What is a Texas State Parks Pass?

A Texas State Parks Pass is a card you can purchase for a one-time, annual fee that provides you with many benefits when visiting any park in the Texas Parks system. Some of the benefits include:

  1. No Entrance/Day Use Fees:
    • Most parks have entrance fees ranging from $2-$15 a day. With the pass, you never pay entrance fees for yourself or your guests (anyone arriving in the same vehicle)!
    • If you arrive by motorcycle, bike, or by walking, your pass can cover you and up to 14 guests.
  2. Camping Discounts:
    • If you’re camping at any of the parks, you get 50% off your second-night camp fee when staying at the same campsite.
  3. State Park Store Discounts:
    • Not applicable with all items, but your pass will get you a 10% discount on most park store items.
    • This includes kayak, canoe, paddleboard, and other rentals.
  4. Other Perks:
    • Buy a 2nd pass for someone in your household for only $25.00 (USD)
    • Receive discounts at park programs, activities, and special events
    • Receive a monthly newsletter with information about the park expansion, closures, constructions, and more.

Why Invest in a Texas State Parks Pass?

Wondering if the pass is worth it? I wrote a blog post about How To Make The Most Of Your Texas State Parks Pass that shares how I used my park pass and made it worth the expense. I mostly travel solo, but if you travel with a friend, partner, or other family members, you can almost double your savings because you also get a free guest pass and your guests don’t have to pay to camp if you’re camping on the same site!

I find that just having the card motivates me to plan more visits to the parks because I am trying to ensure I get my money’s worth.
